The Light Canvas is a light based installation mounted on the ceiling which responds to various movements of the travellers in the metro station. The installation visualizes the movement and behaviour of the people. The ceiling becomes the canvas for the viewer who acts as its pencil. It is currently a work in progress and the video below is the video of the prototype.

The city with numerous name. Bangalore is referred as the IT capital; it is also called the pub capital of Asia, it is also the garden city and some also like to call it the city of lakes. Bangalore is home to diverse groups of people and each one of those have a different view on what they feel is Bangalore. Bangalore, however, with a migrant population of 70%, is an amalgamation of several diverse groups living together, creating a new city which they can call home. This project explores the coming together of different people and the complexity behind how these participations give way to different experiences around us through an interactive collective performative participative installation.

Imagine walking in a familiar environment and suddenly realizing that you have also become the part of that environment and system. What if the environment around you changes according to your movements and behaviour in the space. Through The Light Canvas Project, I aim to build an environment solely controlled by the movements of the commuters. The installation will be mounted on the ceiling and cameras mounted on the ceiling will give input to the system which will then process that to showcase real time visualizations transforming the space.
